Diwali or Deepavali also known as the Festival of Lights, is a four day Hindu
festival celebrated by more than 1 Billion Indians of diverse religious and ethnic orientations around the World. Worship of the Goddess of Wealth (Laxmi), observance of the New Year and performance of Aarti (a ritual that combines worship and adoration) are a part of the festival. It is the most recognized of the Hindu festivals and certainly the brightest. Diwali or Deepavali means an array of lamps (Deep = Lamp, Vali =Array). In the U.S, Diwali is celebrated in a big way in all the Metropolitan cities such as New York, Houston, Atlanta, Washington D.C, Baltimore, Los Angles etc. and White House.
