Market crash: Gujarat woman kills self

Kinjal Shah hung herself at her home from the ceiling fan leaving behind a suicide note telling her husband to sell her jewellery to pay debts. Her husband Shailesh Shah had invested heavily in the stock market and lost in the bearish run.

The couple was married for seven years and had no children and lived in Devash apartment in Vejalpur here. Shailesh was in the business of stocks while Kinjal was working in a private firm in Sola. Their parents lived in a society next door.
When the market collapsed, Shailesh lost a lot of money and Kinjal realised this only after lenders began knocking their doors. Shailesh was under a lot of stress and Kinjal began to suffer.

On Monday, Shailesh’s mother invited them for dinner. Kinjal returned from her job at 5.30 pm. When Shailesh returned around 6.30pm and knocked on the door, she did not answer so he assumed she would have gone to his mother's house.

He went to check but did not find her so he returned home and broke down and found her hanging with her dupatta from the ceiling fan in their bedroom. There was a suicide note that said, "I could not stand the debts you had to face. You can sell my ornaments and pay them off".

Shailesh contacted the Vejalpur police station which lodged a case of accidental death.
